JOB TITLE: MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR CHILDREN SERVICES – MACON

 

QUALIFICAITONS:          

 

  1. Minimum of Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work or Behavioral Science who;
    1. has completed a successful practicum as a part of the requirements for the degree or;
    2. has completed six (6) months postmaster’s level clinical experience supervised by a Master’s Level or above clinician with two (2) years of postgraduate clinical experience as described in DMH/MR Standards.

 

  1. Training/experience in counseling individuals, families and groups, with emphasis on mentally ill children.

 

  1. License eligibility preferred.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

 

  1. Psychological, social and behavioral assessment training/skills. 
  2. Training/experience in crisis intervention techniques.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position is in the Macon County Child/Adolescent Outpatient Program and requires that the counselor work with Seriously Mentally Ill Children/Adolescents.  Provision of outpatient services to include but not be limited to individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, diagnostic workup (i.e., social history, medical history, etc.) and emergency services provision.
