East Central Mental Health Center provides therapeutic services in an outpatient setting. Outpatient treatment focuses on problem solution, symptom resolution or reduction and stabilization. The focus of treatment is highly variable, depends upon the client's presenting symptoms.

Outpatient services are available 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with evening and weekend hours, if needed. East Central Mental outpatient offices are located in Troy, Union Springs, and Tuskegee Alabama. 

Case management is a client focused strategy for linking seriously mentally ill (SMI) adults, seriously emotionally disturbed (SED) children, and individuals with intellectual disability to necessary community support systems and services in order to improve their chances for recovery and/or successful community living, and to reduce the likelihood of clients needing more intensive services. Most case management services and activities occur on an outreach basis. The primary goal of case management services is to ensure effective service coordination; i.e., assessment, linkage, support and resource development, advocacy, social support, case planning, service arrangement, reassessment and follow-up, and monitoring, to assist with meeting the client’s human service needs.

The service area includes Pike, Bullock, and Macon counties. Hours of operations are 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., Monday through Friday. Some services may be provided during evenings, weekends, or holidays.

East Central Mental Health Center provides therapeutic services in an outpatient services to Children and Adolescents. Outpatient treatment focuses on problem solution, system resolution, reduction, stabilization or prevention to a higher level of care. The focus of treatment is highly viable, but depends upon the client’s presenting symptoms.

East Central Mental Health Center provides Crisis and Emergency services 24 hours a day and 7 days per week. The service is available to all residents in the catchment area. Services may be accessed immediately by calling the agency’s Crisis line number at (334) 566-3391 or 1-800-467-1208. 

The emergency services provide the following components:

  • Help-A-Crisis provides immediate crisis response in the form of counseling, intervention, and/or referral.
  • Mental Health consultation typically occurs with, but not limited to community agencies, institutions, and facilities such as hospitals, law enforcement agencies and other professionals.
  • Crisis intervention may be telephone response by a clinician or face to face response by a clinician with a client and/or family that requires immediate clinical assessment/intervention, and/or referral for inpatient psychiatric services.
  • Emergency services provide adequate provision for handling special and difficult cases, e.g. violent/suicidal through interagency consult, law enforcement intervention, inpatient referral, evaluation for those in jail, and/or emergency continuation of medication.

East Central Mental Health Center provides Adult Training Services at the Pike Activity Center in Brundidge and the Bullock Activity Center in Union Springs. These programs are designed for individuals 18 years of age and older who have been diagnosed as having intellectual disabilities.

Personal care services may be provided to individuals to assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, dressing, meal preparation, assistance with eating, incidental household cleaning, laundry and other activities of daily living. A Personal Care worker may also provide assistance with an instrumental activity of daily living such as shopping, banking, budgeting, transportation, recreation, and other activities.

East Central Mental Health Center provides Adult In-Home Intervention services mainly in the home and/or community by a two (2) person multi-disciplinary team in which members function to provide treatment. Clinical interventions are designed to help maintain support, stability and independent functioning, thus allowing the client to remain in the least restrictive environment, and to engage the client into regular programs. Services are provided to defuse an immediate crisis situation, stabilize the family unit and/or prevent out of home placement. Services are highly individualized and time limited based upon individual need.

Adult In-Home Intervention services are provided to clients in Macon County, but the team may respond to crisis throughout the catchment area of Pike, Macon, and Bullock Counties, as needed.

Adult In-Home Intervention focuses on immediate crisis response, problem solution, and symptom reduction, or stabilization to prevent movement to a more restrictive level of care. The team will be flexible, mobile, and readily deployable. The focus of treatment is totally dependent on individual need. Services may include, but are not limited to:

Services are provided from 8:00a.m. until 5:00p.m., Monday through Friday with capability to respond via contact with regular on-call staff evenings, weekends, and holidays, if needed.

East Central Mental Health Center provides a Child and Adolescent In-Home Team in Pike, Macon, and Bullock Counties. The Child and Adolescent In-Home Team provides time limited home based services by a two-person team (one Master’s level and one Bachelor’s level) to stabilized the family unit and prevent out of home placement of the client.

Key service functions provided by the team includes:

In-Home services are provided Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

East Central Mental Health offers several medication programs for the citizens of Pike, Bullock and Macon counties to provide lifesaving medications to those who cannot afford these medications. These medications can be for any chronic or acute illnesses (diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol gout, etc.) as well as Psychotropic medications. We will provide you with an application and assist you in obtaining the medications you need. Even if you have Medicare Part D or insurance with an extremely high co-pay we may be able to help you. East Central Mental Health Center provides Adult Day Treatment Programs in Troy, Union Springs, and Tuskegee, Alabama. Day Treatment provides active structured rehabilitative interventions that specifically address individual life goals, build on personal strengths and assets, improves functioning, increase skills, promote a positive quality of life and develop support networks. The goal of Rehabilitative Day Treatment is to provide long-term recovery services to improve functioning, facilitate recovery, achieve personal life goals, regain self worth, optimize illness management, and help clients to become productive participants in family and community life.

East Central Mental Health Center provides residential services for the chronically mentally ill in Pike, Bullock, and Macon Counties. 

East Central Mental Health Center provides treatment for individuals with a substance abuse diagnosis. East Central Mental Health offers an Intensive Outpatient Program in Troy. The facility is open from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Primary program activities are conducted from 5:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. There is a daytime program operational on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1:00p.m. to 3:30p.m. A separate continuing care group meets on Monday from 7:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. and Thursday from 1:00p.m. to 3:30p.m.

Substance Abuse Services
Services are designed to meet each client’s needs and goals to include, as needed:

  • Group Therapy
  • Individual Therapy
  • Assessment
  • On Ongoing monitoring and regularly home assignments
  • Family Therapy, as appropriate
  • Referrals to inpatient treatment, as needed

East Central Mental Health will give preference in admission to individuals with substance use disorders in the following priority:

  • Pregnant women IV users
  • Pregnant women with substance use disorders
  • All other IV users
  • Women with dependent children
  • Individuals who are HIV positive
  • All other individuals with substance use disorders.

Access to Care

Access to Care is the first point of contact for patients entering into our care or returning to services. Our Access to Care team can screen patients to determine their needs, schedule appointments, handle hospital or doctor offices referrals and connect callers with appropriate services.

Our Access to Care lines are open from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
